This is his second tour with the Dbacks this season; he appeared in two games (three innings pitched) with a 6.00 ERA and three strikeouts.

Who knows? Owings could get his act together and provide a lift during the stretch run.
When a team is hovering near - or in the Diamondbacks' case, in - first place, the Trade Deadline is huge.

This year, Dbacks fans were looking forward to the team opening up the wallet and farm system to add a big bat or arm. Mark Teixeira, anyone? Well, that ain't happening but it's hardly surprising, is it?

Would you have wanted to trade Conor Jackson and who knows who else to the Braves? Not me. Maybe Chad Tracy in a package deal. Maybe.

Do the Dbacks need to do more than Jon Rauch and Tony Clark? Of course, and they likely will. But will it be a blockbuster? I tend to think not. This club is poised for years of success and I just can't see them trading premium prospects for rental players or even stop-gap guys.

Watch for a complementary player, an outfielder with some pop to join the Dbacks this week. But you can rule out Jose Guillen.

Fact is, no matter what Arizona does between now and the end of August -- the final trade deadline -- the thin talent in the division will make this team fun to watch.
